Content reviewed:

Acacia fibre · gum arabic

A plant gum containing complex polysaccharides; gum arabic is E414.

Boswellia extract

A botanical preparation; the genus name alone does not identify species, extraction ratio or boswellic-acid standardisation.

Calcium carbonate

CaCO3, a calcium salt. Calcium content and total carbonate mass are not the same.

Carotenes

Carotenoid pigments; the label category does not specify one purified carotene.

Citric acid

An organic acid; food additive E330.

Creatine monohydrate

A crystalline compound of creatine and one water molecule. Creatine is not a protein; monohydrate weight and creatine weight are different quantities.

DHA · docosahexaenoic acid

A long-chain omega-3 fatty acid (22:6 n-3), a constituent of fish oil rather than a synonym for the whole oil.

EPA · eicosapentaenoic acid

A long-chain omega-3 fatty acid (20:5 n-3), a constituent of fish oil rather than a synonym for the whole oil.

Fish oil

A mixture of lipids from fish; fish-oil weight is not the same as combined EPA and DHA weight.

Flavourings

A label category for ingredients used to impart or modify flavour, not one chemical substance.

Gelatin

A protein material obtained by partial breakdown of collagen.

Glucosamine

An amino sugar. Salts such as sulfate and hydrochloride are distinct ingredient forms.

Glycerol · glycerine

A three-carbon polyol, E422.

HPMC · capsule shell

Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, a modified cellulose polymer, E464.

Hydrolysed collagen

Collagen hydrolysate, also called collagen peptides: a mixture of shorter protein chains.

Maca · Lepidium meyenii

Lepidium meyenii Walp., a member of the Brassicaceae family. The swollen underground hypocotyl/root is the harvested plant part; powder and extract are different preparations.

Magnesium stearate

A magnesium salt of fatty acids used as a technological ingredient.

Maltodextrin

A mixture of glucose chains; a digestible carbohydrate.

Manganese · diglycinate

An essential trace mineral; diglycinate names the declared compound form.

Microcrystalline cellulose

Purified, partly depolymerised cellulose, E460(i).

MSM · methylsulfonylmethane

An organic sulfur compound, also called dimethyl sulfone.

Rapeseed oil

A vegetable oil consisting mainly of triglycerides.

Silicon dioxide

Silica, SiO2; food additive E551.

Sodium hyaluronate

The sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, a polysaccharide.

Sucralose

An intense sweetener, E955, chemically derived from sucrose.

Vitamin C · L-ascorbic acid

L-ascorbic acid is a water-soluble vitamin. The chemical name identifies the compound, not the plant or country used to make it.

Vitamin D3 · cholecalciferol

A fat-soluble vitamin form. Micrograms and international units describe quantity differently.

Vitamin E

A family of fat-soluble compounds. A label stating vitamin E alone does not identify the exact chemical form.

Water

H2O; a formulation component and preparation liquid.

Whey protein isolate

WPI is a concentrated milk-protein fraction, including beta-lactoglobulin and alpha-lactalbumin. The protein percentage of an ingredient is not necessarily the percentage of the flavoured finished powder.
